Ranjit Pati is a Professor and Graduate Director in the Department of Physics at Michigan Technological University. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics from the University at Albany, SUNY. His research focuses on addressing fundamental challenges in nanoscience, particularly electron transfer processes in nanoscale junctions using quantum many-body theory.
Dr. Pati's work explores quantum materials including molecular junctions, carbon nanotubes, nanowires, and graphene nanoflakes. His research investigates how electron behavior can be controlled in these materials for electronics applications. He maintains active collaborations with institutions like the University of Iowa and Yale University.
He leads significant projects including NSF-funded research on 'Designing Molecular Spin Switch' (2012-2014) and 'Theory of mono-molecular field effect organic transistors' (2007-2013). His computational facilities include a Beowulf Linux Cluster for Gaussian and VASP simulations.
