Randy Richardson is an Associate Professor of Classical Languages at Asbury University, where he has served full-time since 1999. He previously worked as an adjunct instructor and held roles at Salem-Teikyo University and Duff Street United Methodist Church. He currently chairs the Department of Ancient & Modern Languages (2018–2024) and advises the Kappa Eta Chapter of Eta Sigma Phi, the national honor society in Classics.
Education: M.A. and B.A. in Classical Languages from Indiana State University (1979, 1981), with additional graduate work at Johns Hopkins University and Asbury Theological Seminary.
Research focuses on hagiography of late antiquity in Merovingian Gaul. His recent publication includes a translation of Gregory of Tours’ *Book of the Miracles of the Blessed Andrew the Apostle* (2022). He has presented at the International Congress on Medieval Studies (2019).
Awards include multiple Excellence in Student Investment Awards (2021, 2017) and the Frances White Ewbank Excellence in Teaching Award (2011).
Teaching responsibilities span Latin, Greek, and classical humanities courses, including Classical Mythology and Classical Literature in Translation. He oversees advanced language courses and reading seminars in both Greek and Latin.
Leadership roles include establishing the local Eta Sigma Phi chapter and advising student groups. His service includes work on the Latin Praxis Exam National Committee (2004).
