Randy Nakamura is a Senior Adjunct Professor in the Graduate Design Program at California College of the Arts. His research bridges architecture, design history, and cultural theory, with particular focus on modernist and postmodern movements. His 2017 article analyzed Doug Michels' unconventional career trajectory between Ant Farm and Johnson/Burgee, exploring themes of architectural modernism and human-animal-technology interfaces.
Nakamura's scholarly work demonstrates consistent interest in reconstructing overlooked narratives in design history and examining thresholds between nature, technology, and human experience. His writing has been published in notable journals including Design Observer, Emigre, and Idea Magazine.
