Randy Connolly is a tenured full professor in the Department of Mathematics & Computing at Mount Royal University, Calgary, Canada. He also teaches in the university’s General Education department. His academic career spans over 25 years, starting as an instructor in 1997, progressing to Associate Professor (2008–2013), and achieving full professor status in 2014. He holds a BSc in Computer Science (1986, University of Calgary) and an MA in Political Science (1991, York University), with a PhD in Political Science from McGill University (2000).
His research bridges computer science and political science, focusing on

- Computing disciplinarity
Randy has given over 20 international presentations, including two keynote addresses, and holds editorial roles at ACM Transactions on Computing Education and ACM Inroads. His awards include three best paper recognitions and a teaching award. He actively engages in academic service, including past roles on ACM SIGITE’s executive board and as deputy editor for ACM SIGCAS.
Teaching specialties include web development, technology’s societal effects, and art/cultural history. Recent courses span technical (Web 3, Web 2) to interdisciplinary topics (Aesthetic Experience and Ideas). His work emphasizes bridging technical disciplines with humanities to foster socially responsible computing practices.
