Randall Walsh is a Professor of Economics and Director of the Master’s in Quantitative Economics (MQE) program at the University of Pittsburgh. He was previously on the faculty at the University of Colorado. His research focuses on applied microeconomics, environmental economics, public economics, and urban economics, with emphases on cities, environmental equity, racial segregation, and political economy. Walsh holds a Ph.D. from Duke University and a B.S. from the University of New Hampshire.
As a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), he explores historical and contemporary issues such as the impact of redlining, racial wealth disparities, and zoning policies. His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Center for Equitable Growth. Key themes include the intersection of race, environment, and urban development, with studies on wildfire management, housing markets, and segregation dynamics.
