Jevay Grooms, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Howard University and a Visiting Distinguished Faculty & Scholar at the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on health economics, public policy, and racial/socioeconomic disparities, addressing issues like Medicaid expansion, opioid prescribing policies, and mental health during the pandemic. She is also affiliated with the Howard University Center on Race and Wealth and the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).

Her research interests include applied microeconomics, international economics, and the intersection of health outcomes with systemic inequality. Recent work explores disparities in substance use disorder treatment, foster care system inequities, and policy impacts on marginalized communities. She is a recognized leader in diversity initiatives, mentoring underrepresented students in economics.
