Dr. Randall S. Peterson is a Professor of Organisational Behaviour at London Business School (LBS), where he also serves as the Director of the Leadership Institute and a former Deputy Dean (Faculty). He holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and previously taught at Northwestern University and Cornell University's SC Johnson Graduate School of Management. His research focuses on CEO personality, top management team dynamics, board effectiveness, conflict management, and leadership in diverse teams.
Professor Peterson is renowned for his award-winning work, including the Academy of Management’s ‘Best Paper’ and ‘Best Mentor’ awards. His book Disaster in the Boardroom: Six Dysfunctions Everyone Should Understand critiques boardroom failures and offers solutions. He has published over 50 articles in top journals like Administrative Science Quarterly and Harvard Business Review, and his work has been featured in major media outlets such as BBC, The Economist, and Forbes.
As an educator, Peterson has been honored with LBS’s ‘Excellence in Teaching’ award and is a sought-after consultant for global firms like ADNOC, Barclays, and Nestlé. His leadership roles at LBS include overseeing the PhD Programme, Research Ethics Committee, and Campaign Committee. He is also the founder of Talentsage, emphasizing leadership assessment and interpersonal skill development.
His research themes include boardroom dysfunction, team conflict resolution, and leadership assessment.
