Randall J. Rowe II, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati, specializing in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies within the Department of Asian, East European, and German Studies. He serves as the principal instructor for Russian language and culture courses and directs the UC STARTALK Russian Language Program.
- Education: BA in Russian (Michigan State University, 2009), MA in Russian and Slavic Studies (New York University, 2014), MA in Slavic Literature, Film, and Cultural Studies (The Ohio State University, 2018), PhD in Slavic Literature, Film, and Cultural Studies (The Ohio State University, 2024).
Dr. Rowe's research focuses on cultural studies, power dynamics in society, Russian and Polish literature, film, and media. His work explores intersections of gender, sexuality, migration, and geopolitical representation.
Recent publications analyze Russian children's television, international media coverage of migration crises, and human trafficking dynamics in Russia's Far East.
