Nina Shkolnik is a Lecturer in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan, where she teaches Russian language and literature and contributes to cultural programming.

Research and Teaching Focus:
Shkolnik specializes in Russian language pedagogy and Russian literature, with a particular emphasis on integrating cultural immersion through drama and film. Her work supports undergraduate education in Russian studies and fosters engagement with Russian traditions and Soviet-era media.
She has led student productions of plays adapted from Soviet films and literature, such as "Garage" and "Office Romance," as part of the Russian 302 & 402 curriculum. These projects aim to deepen students' linguistic and cultural understanding through performance.
Shkolnik is also actively involved in organizing cultural events such as Maslenitsa, a traditional Russian holiday celebration, which provides students with experiential learning opportunities.
