Rand Wentworth serves as the Louis and Gabrielle Bacon Senior Fellow in Environmental Leadership and an Adjunct Lecturer in Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University, with additional affiliation at the Center for Public Leadership. He is also president emeritus of the Land Trust Alliance, a national conservation organization supporting over 1,100 land trusts across America.
Wentworth earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University and an MBA in finance from Cornell University. His professional journey spans conservation leadership, real estate development, and academia, including roles as Environmentalist in Residence at Middlebury College and visiting professor at Georgia Tech's Graduate School of Architecture and City Planning.
His research and professional expertise centers on Environment & Energy conservation policy, Advocacy & Social Movements for land protection, Decision Making & Negotiation in bipartisan environmental legislation, and Public Leadership & Management of large-scale conservation initiatives. He pioneered systems that protected over 56 million acres of land through the Land Trust Alliance's national accreditation program, virtual conservation university, and Terrafirma legal defense insurance.
His major recognitions include:

Wentworth has testified before Congress to expand conservation tax incentives, tripled the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, and secured a $143 million Chattahoochee River protection campaign. He currently teaches Climate Leadership: Persuasion, Advocacy and Negotiation (IGA-455) while maintaining emeritus leadership at the Land Trust Alliance.
