Rana Badreddine

Rana Badreddine is a Hedrick Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) since July 2024. She works with Professors Rowan Killip and Monica Visan on research related to integrable partial differential equations. Prior to this position, she completed her Ph.D. in pure mathematics at the Laboratoire de Mathématiques d'Orsay, Université Paris-Saclay, France.

Badreddine earned her Ph.D. in pure mathematics on June 21st, 2024, from Université Paris-Saclay, specializing in Partial Differential Equations (PDE) under the supervision of Professor Patrick Gérard. Her doctoral research focused on integrable PDEs, particularly the Calogero-Sutherland-Moser Derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the Benjamin-Ono equation.

Dr. Badreddine's research concentrates on integrable partial differential equations, with particular focus on the Calogero-Sutherland-Moser Derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the Benjamin-Ono equation. Her work bridges mathematical physics and analysis, exploring properties such as well-posedness, traveling waves, finite gap potentials, and zero dispersion limits. She combines techniques from spectral theory, Hamiltonian systems, and algebraic geometry to analyze these complex nonlinear systems.

Her recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on the mathematical analysis of derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations. Her work examines fundamental properties including global well-posedness, traveling wave solutions, finite gap potentials, and zero dispersion limits. These studies contribute to the broader understanding of integrable systems and their applications in mathematical physics.

Dr. Badreddine has served as a peer reviewer for Selecta Mathematica and the SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis. She has co-organized the Orsay analysis Ph.D. seminar series for 2022-2023 with Marc Rouveyrol, demonstrating her commitment to academic community building and mentorship.

She actively participates in the mathematical research community through numerous conference presentations and seminar talks at institutions worldwide, including UCLA, UC Berkeley, and various European venues. Her work is situated within the vibrant analysis and PDE research groups at UCLA.
