Rana Abdul-Aziz is a Distinguished Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Literary and Cultural Studies at Tufts University, School of Arts and Sciences. She holds an MAT (2007) and BA (2003) from Tufts University. Her research interests focus on Modern Arabic Literature, high school Arabic pedagogy, curriculum design, second language acquisition, and integrating political science/philosophy into language instruction.
She has published Jusuur: Beginning Arabic for Young People (2020). Her professional activities include extensive participation in language teaching conferences and workshops, such as ACTFL and Culturingua, and contributions to pedagogical initiatives like the Aflaam Project. She advises courses ranging from Elementary to Advanced Arabic and has served on search committees for the Arabic Program. Her teaching spans intensive language courses, directed studies, and honors thesis supervision.
