Ran Nathan

Ran Nathan is a Professor in the Ecology, Evolution and Behavior department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he has been employed since 2003. He obtained his PhD in EEB (Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior) from the same institution in 2000. His research integrates ecology, animal behavior, and advanced tracking technologies to study movement patterns across species.

His recent work spans

• gut microbiota in migratory birds
• anomalous diffusion in animal movement
• high-throughput tracking systems
• human impacts on wildlife migration
• spatial memory in bats and birds

He received a ISF grant (68366) for studying cognition-behavior-microbiota interactions in ravens. His cross-disciplinary collaborations span institutions in Israel, Europe, and Africa, focusing on conservation and movement ecology.
