Ran Holtzman is an Associate Professor at the Research Centre for Fluid and Complex Systems, Coventry University. He holds a PhD from University of California, Berkeley and completed postdoctoral research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
His research focuses on multiscale modeling of multiphase and reactive fluid flow in deformable porous media, emphasizing pore-scale mechanisms leading to nonequilibrium phenomena. This includes studies of unstable flow pathways, hysteresis, and rate-dependency in environmental and energy systems spanning filtration, soil infiltration, carbon sequestration, and microfluidics.
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on experimental and computational approaches to solute transport, microplastics migration, erosion processes, and porous media dynamics. Article keywords frequently include Environmental Science, Fluid Dynamics, and Geology, with subfields highlighting contaminant transport, pore-scale modeling, and multiphase systems.
Awards and Honors:
- Accreditation of research and teaching (2018)
- Best Teaching Assistant Award, Technion (2000)
- Golda Meir Fellowship (2012)
- Grand Water Research Institute Scholarship (2000)
- Jane Lewis Fellowship (2005)
He leads research projects including hysteresis studies in porous media and UKFN SIG on flow patterns. Supervises PhD candidates in microbial ecology projects involving particle mixing dynamics.
