معرفی
Catherine Spurin is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Energy Resources Engineering department at Stanford University. Her research focuses on subsurface heterogeneity, CO2 storage security, and multiphase flow dynamics in porous media. She completed her PhD at Imperial College London in 2021, where her thesis explored intermittent flow pathways in multiphase systems. Her work is part of the GeoCquest consortium with Melbourne University, Cambridge, and CO2CRC, supervised by Prof. Hamdi Tchelepi and Prof. Sally Benson.
Her research interests include pore-scale fluid dynamics, DMD analysis of multiphase flow, and reservoir engineering challenges in carbon sequestration. Notable contributions include developing Python workflows for multiphase image segmentation and analyzing pressure fluctuations in CO2 storage systems.
- Education: PhD (2021), MSci (2017), and BSc (2017) in Earth Science & Engineering from Imperial College London.
- Publications: Focused on DMD applications, pore-scale imaging, and CO2 trapping mechanisms. Featured articles include work on red noise in multiphase flow and 4D imaging analysis.
- Labs/Teams: Active in the GeoCquest consortium and a committee member for the Porous Media Tea Time Talks series.
