Her academic qualifications include:
- MA, MB BChir, Cantab.
- MPhil in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics, Cantab.
- PhD in Biochemistry, Cantab.
- MRCP (Membership of the Royal College of Physicians)
Dr Bowden's research centers on molecular mechanisms of DNA damage response and clinical management of DNA repair disorders, with significant contributions to cancer genomics through mutational signatures analysis. Her work integrates large-scale genetic interaction screening techniques to develop novel diagnostic tools and therapeutic approaches for cancer and rare genetic diseases, emphasizing translational applications from bench to bedside.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- Wellcome Clinical Research Fellowship (2016)
As Director of Studies in Medical Sciences, Dr Bowden oversees undergraduate academic development while conducting clinically integrated research. Her work is supported by the Wellcome Trust fellowship and leverages collaborations between Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Gurdon Institute. She maintains active clinical responsibilities as a geneticist alongside her academic duties.
Dr Bowden operates within the clinical genetics division at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and maintains research affiliations with the Gurdon Institute, focusing on DNA repair pathways and cancer genomics through interdisciplinary teams bridging clinical practice and laboratory research.
