Ramon Almeida is a Research Student at the University of Brighton, affiliated with the School of Humanities and Social Science. He holds a Master's degree in Social Research Methods and is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Sciences funded by the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership (SCDTP). His research focuses on transforming public policies to address hate crimes against Brazil's LGBTQ+ marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on queer criminology and critical criminology.
Almeida has over a decade of professional experience advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights through work with NGOs in Brazil. He is a member of the Centre for Transforming Sexuality and Gender at the University of Brighton, contributing to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of human rights, policy reform, and social justice.
His expertise spans research methodologies, public policy analysis, and marginalized community advocacy, driven by a commitment to driving systemic change through evidence-based approaches.
