Ramiro Miranda is an Assistant Professor of Upper Strings and Orchestra at Pittsburg State University (starting Fall 2023), where he teaches violin, conducting, and leads the Southeast Kansas Symphony Orchestra. Previously, he held similar roles at Emporia State University from 2015 to 2023, founding the Emporia State University String Camp and Stringfully to serve K-12 students.
His performance career includes solo recitals across the U.S., Latin America, and China, with a focus on classical and improvisatory genres. He is a guest conductor for the Midwest Chamber Ensemble and collaborates with ensembles like the Jopara Ensemble (Paraguayan classical/folk fusion), Switchgrass String Quartet (improvisatory music), and String Daze (global fiddle music). He has performed with renowned artists such as Berta Rojas and Mike Marshall.
Miranda holds a D.M.A. in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, M.M. degrees in Violin Performance and Orchestral Conducting from Illinois State University, and a B.M. in Violin Performance from Pittsburg State University. His recent projects include the Spoken Sonatas collaboration with Kansas poets.
He is the recipient of prestigious grants and awards, including the Nadia Boulanger Institute grant in Paris. His work extends beyond academia through community engagement, such as the Kansas Paraguay Partners annual meeting performances and educational initiatives.
