Professor Ramin Keivani is Head of the School of the Built Environment at Oxford Brookes University. He holds a PhD from University College London and has extensive academic experience at UCL and London South Bank University before joining Brookes in 2003. His research focuses on urban development challenges in the Global South and transition economies, particularly urban equity, land markets, and social sustainability. He leads the Real Estate and Land Policy research group and is Founding Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Urban Sustainable Development.
Education: PhD from University College London. Key research themes include globalization's impact on urban development, housing policy, and sustainable urban governance. He has conducted projects in Iran, China, Brazil, Africa, and Asia Pacific, funded by ESRC, EU, World Bank, and others.
Research trends emphasize social sustainability of urban neighborhoods, equity in land markets, and policy impacts on low-income housing. His articles explore compact neighborhoods, pro-poor development in Rio de Janeiro, and China's urban sustainability challenges. Over £1.1 million in research grants secured.
