Ramez Bathish is a PhD candidate and Research Officer at Monash University's Eastern Health Clinical School, based at Turning Point in the Clinical and Social Research team. He has 20 years' experience in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) sector, specializing in research, community development, harm reduction, and community health. Since 2014, he has worked on clinical trials and observational studies, including the N-ICE trial, Social Networks and Recovery study, and projects exploring veterans' wellbeing and public drinking behaviors.
Teaching roles include coordinating the ASC5010 Gambling, Gaming and other Behavioural Addictions course in Monash's Graduate Program of Addictive Behaviours. He serves on the Eastern Health Human Research Ethics Committee and is Language Editor at the International Journal of Drug Policy. His PhD examines AOD residential rehabilitation through science and technology studies.
Research interests focus on social/cultural aspects of AOD use, care experiences, addiction recovery concepts, and stigma reduction. Key contributions include work on stigma in academic writing and veterans' reintegration. His 18+ publications span drug policy, clinical trials, and qualitative studies on recovery processes.
