Ramesh Pokharel

Ramesh Pokharel is a Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Houston, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. He previously taught at several universities in Nepal for 15 years and completed his PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), USA. His roles include teaching first-year writing courses and a course on literature and culture at the University of Houston, alongside previous teaching experiences in first-year composition and advanced writing at UTEP and first-year writing and literature at Texas A&M University, College Station.

• Education: PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), USA.

Research Interests include:

• History of rhetorics
• Rhetorical theory and situation
• New media studies and digital rhetoric
• Theories of technology
• World and cross-cultural rhetorics

As a scholar, he has presented research papers at national and international conferences and published in journals in Nepal and the TESOL Journal, USA. He also served as a reviewer for the TESOL Journal and the Journal of International Students. Additionally, he volunteered in UTEP's Office of International Programs as an International Representative from Nepal and provided services as a translator and grant writer in the El Paso community.
