Dr. Ramesh C. Chawla is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Howard University's College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA). With over 40 years of experience, he specializes in environmental engineering, hazardous waste treatment, air/water pollution, and process safety. He has authored/co-authored over 100 technical papers and secured over $20 million in grants from agencies like EPA, NSF, DOE, and DOD.
- Education: Ph.D. (1978), M.S. (1972), and B.Tech. (1970) in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University and IIT Kanpur.
His research focuses on environmental systems, including hazardous waste treatment, combustion chemistry, and low-level pollutant monitoring. He has supervised over 25 graduate students and pioneered courses in environmental engineering education. Dr. Chawla is a Fellow of AIChE and has received numerous teaching awards, including the Ralph Teetor Award and Howard University's Distinguished Teacher-Scholar Award.
