Ram Venkataraman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at the College of Business, The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where he has been a faculty member since 2013. Prior to joining UTA, he served as an Assistant Professor at Southern Methodist University (2007–2013) and the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management (2001–2007). He holds a PhD from Pennsylvania State University (2001) and a BS from the University of Madras.

Dr. Venkataraman’s research centers on financial accounting, with a focus on earnings quality, disclosure practices, audit quality, goodwill impairment, and analyst forecasting behavior. His work investigates how financial reporting standards and corporate decisions impact information transparency and capital market outcomes. He has published in leading journals such as The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, and Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance. His recent research explores the effects of R&D reporting rules on firm efficiency and the timeliness of analysts’ forecasts.

His professional affiliations include the American Accounting Association and Financial Executives International.
Dr. Venkataraman is deeply integrated into academic and professional networks, serving on multiple university, college, and departmental committees, including the PhD Committee, Scholarship Committee, and Student Success Task Force. He has organized workshops and contributed to strategic initiatives in tech-mediated education delivery. His public engagement includes serving on the TCC Connect Campus Accounting Program Advisory Council and as a guest speaker at UTA’s CPE day.
