معرفی
Ralph Thomas Anderson is a Lecturer in the School of Classics at the University of St Andrews. He is affiliated with the St Andrews Centre for the Receptions of Antiquity, the Centre for the Public Understanding of Greek and Roman Drama, and the Centre for Ancient Environmental Studies. His research focuses on Greek religion, ritual, and magic, particularly in 4th-5th century BCE Athens, challenging traditional belief-performance dichotomies through anthropological perspectives on perception and experience.
His current projects include preparing conference proceedings on 'Belief and its Alternatives in Greek and Roman Religion' and a monograph based on his doctoral research. Future research aims to explore the phenomenology of Greek religious landscapes, integrating archaeological, topographic, and literary data to understand how inhabitants experienced these spaces as 'lieux de memoire'.
Anderson has presented at multiple conferences and workshops, including invited talks on cognitive approaches to religious experience and Greek divination. His work bridges classical studies with modern anthropological theory, emphasizing lived religious experience over static frameworks.
