Ralph Harvey is a Professor in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Case Western Reserve University since 1995. He has held previous positions as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Tennessee (1990-1995) and Adjunct Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh (1992-1995).

Research Interests focus on the geochemical analysis of planetary materials such as meteorites, Mars rocks, and micrometeorites. Key projects include experimental studies of Venusian crust-atmosphere interactions, Antarctic meteorite recovery, the DAVID mission for asteroid exploration, and investigations into Martian mineralogy. His work spans weathering mechanisms on Earth and other planets, polar ice sheet history, and cryogenic biological limits.
Teaching includes Mineralogy (EEPS 341), Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology (EEPS 344), and Planetary Materials (EEPS 345). He emphasizes student-driven research and has advised 5 graduate and undergraduate students.
