Ralph Bagnall is a Researcher and Research Associate in the Department of Psychology at the University of Bath, affiliated with the Centre for Applied Autism Research (CAAR). His work focuses on neurodivergence, particularly autism, within the Criminal Justice System. He holds a PhD in Psychology (2019–2023) and has degrees from the University of Bath, Anglia Ruskin University, and the Open University.
His research examines factors affecting autistic individuals’ participation in police suspect interviews and court settings, including deception dynamics. Current projects include an ESRC-funded initiative, 'Measuring Special Measures,' which evaluates supports for autistic individuals in legal proceedings.
Key publications explore autistic adults’ experiences in investigative interviews, deception behaviors, and qualitative research data-sharing policies. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through promoting equitable access to justice and psychological insights.
