Ralf Jungmann is a W3 Full Professor of Physics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and a Max Planck Fellow. He leads the Research Group Molecular Imaging and Bionanotechnology at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, focusing on super-resolution microscopy, DNA nanotechnology, and single-molecule studies.

Research Interests encompass developing DNA-PAINT, RESI, and SUM-PAINT for Ångström-scale imaging, spatial proteomics, and quantitative molecular mapping in immune checkpoints and neurodegenerative diseases. His work bridges structural biology, biophysics, and biomedical diagnostics.
Recent Publications highlight advancements in multiplexed imaging, glycans visualization, and chromosomal architecture analysis. These span Nature Nanotechnology, Cell, and Nature Methods, emphasizing applications in cancer immunotherapy and neuroscience.
Scientific Awards include the EMBO Membership (2025) and multiple ERC grants (2016–2021). He has also received the Paul Allen Distinguished Investigator Award and HFSP Young Investigator Grant.
