Prof. Ralf Brederlow is a Professor and Chair of Circuit Design at the Technische Universität München (TUM), affiliated with the TUM School of Computation, Information, and Technology. He also serves as a consultant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS). His research focuses on integrated CMOS circuits, intelligent sensor systems, and energy-efficient microelectronics.
Academic career: Studied physics at Universität Würzburg and TU Munich, earned a doctorate in electrical engineering through a Siemens-TU Berlin collaboration. Held roles at Infineon, Texas Instruments (TI), leading projects like the ultra-low-power MSP430 microcontroller family and intelligent sensor research at TI’s Kilby Labs. Established TUM’s Circuit Design Chair in 2019.
Key research areas include analog/digital circuit design, AI-driven sensor systems, and IoT applications. His work emphasizes energy efficiency, robust sensor architectures, and low-power electronics.
Notable awards include the 2019 VLSI Circuits Symposium Best Student Paper Award and multiple industrial accolades for groundbreaking contributions to energy-harvesting technologies and low-power microcontrollers.
