Raktim Pal is a Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics (CIS and BSAN) and holds the Kirby L. Cramer Chair of Business Administration at James Madison University's College of Business. He is actively involved in the MBA Program. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. and multiple Master's degrees in Industrial and Civil Engineering from Purdue University, alongside a B.Tech. (Honors) in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur.
Dr. Pal's research focuses on Supply Chain Management, Humanitarian Operations, Sustainability, and Analytics/Applied Operations Research. His work addresses disruptions, resilience, green initiatives, and technology impacts. Notable publications include conceptual frameworks for supply chain coping mechanisms and studies on agro-food supply chains in China.
He has received numerous awards such as the Dean’s Impact Award (2022), Applied Scholarship Publication Awards (multiple years), and recognition in prestigious honor societies like Beta Gamma Sigma. His career spans academia and industry, including roles at JDA Software and i2 Technologies.
Pal’s teaching spans Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, and Project Management. He has contributed to curriculum development, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches like BPM and ERP integration. His research and teaching are further enhanced through grants and collaborations on projects related to disaster response and sustainable technologies.
Labs/Teams: His work is embedded within JMU’s College of Business research initiatives, focusing on operational resilience and sustainable systems.
