Rajitha Athukorala

Rajitha Athukorala is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the ARC Center for Data Analytics for Resources and Environment (DARE) within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. His work focuses on interpretable probabilistic machine learning methods in hydrology, combining advanced computational techniques with environmental science.

• Previous roles: Research Associate at Geoinformatics Center (GIC), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand
• Expertise: Remote sensing, GIS applications, climate projection modeling, multi-hazard risk assessment, drone-based mapping in Central and Southeast Asia
• Capacity-building experience: Technical lead in remote sensing and GIS training programs for agriculture, disaster risk management, and drone image processing in India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand, Laos, and Tajikistan
