Prof. Dr. Rainer Walz is Deputy Director and Head of the Department of Sustainability and Infrastructure Systems at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI). He holds an adjunct professorship at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and a visiting professorship at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His academic journey began with studies in economics and political science at the University of Freiburg and Brock University, Canada, followed by a doctorate and habilitation in economics.
