معرفی
Raina Pang, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Research in Population and Public Health Sciences and Psychology at the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on understanding sex/gender differences and women-specific factors in addiction, particularly examining the role of ovarian hormones, menstrual cycles, and e-cigarette characteristics on smoking behavior and substance use. She leads the USC POWER Lab, investigating topics such as nicotine dependence, tobacco withdrawal, and the impact of social and environmental factors on addiction.
Her work emphasizes vulnerable populations, including racial/ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with mental health challenges. Current studies include a five-year project exploring ovarian hormone effects on mood and smoking behavior using ecological momentary assessment.
Research interests span addiction mechanisms, public health interventions, and the intersection of gender, hormones, and substance use. Her studies often utilize laboratory-based behavioral pharmacology and real-world data collection methods.
Key findings include associations between hormonal fluctuations and smoking behavior, the influence of e-cigarette flavors on appeal, and the role of social support in smoking cessation among LGBTQ+ couples. Her work also addresses disparities in tobacco use and health outcomes across demographic groups.
Labs/Teams: Director of the USC POWER Lab focusing on addiction research and public health.
