His research focuses on discursive psychology, particularly interactional practices of categorization and negotiation of identities (race, gender, religion, caste, nationality). He examines consequences of these practices for exclusion, with an emphasis on South Asian contexts and global south perspectives. Current projects include analyzing racialization in multiple countries, gender categorizations in abortion debates, citizenship in India's political landscape, and socio-political discourse on Indian social media.
Rahul teaches Qualitative Research Methods at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is open to Ph.D. supervision inquiries on discursive psychology and discourse analysis topics. He contributes to public discourse via The Conversation and RTE Brainstorm, and delivers lectures on the social psychology of migration and exclusion.
