معرفی
Dr Rahmi Yusuf is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Microbiology at the Leicester School of Pharmacy, De Montfort University, where she joined in 2022. Her teaching spans microbiology in pharmacy practice and industry, and she is affiliated with the Leicester Institute for Pharmaceutical & Health Innovations (LIPHI).
Her educational background includes:
- B.Sc. in Microbiology (2008, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia)
- M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering (2012, Hochschule Furtwangen University, Germany)
- Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology (2018, University of Portsmouth)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Empowering Education (2024, De Montfort University)
Dr Yusuf's research centers on bacterial two-component systems and histidine kinase signaling, with emphasis on developing synthetic biosensors for pharmaceutical applications. Her work bridges fundamental microbiology and drug discovery, particularly in high-throughput screening technologies.
Analysis of her publications reveals a consistent focus on structural mechanisms of bacterial signaling proteins, with progressive refinement from EnvZ dimerization studies to aromatic residue tuning for biosensor design. This trajectory demonstrates increasing sophistication in manipulating two-component systems for practical pharmaceutical applications.
Her research has been supported by a full government scholarship during doctoral studies and Innovate UK funding as a Senior Research Associate. She maintains active professional engagement through memberships in the Microbiology Society, Applied Microbiology International, and the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy.
As part of LIPHI, she contributes to interdisciplinary pharmaceutical research initiatives at De Montfort University.
