Dr. Rahman Daiyan is a Senior Lecturer and Scientia Fellow at the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering, University of New South Wales. He holds an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) and serves as Australian Research Lead for HyLuxValley (Horizon Europe) and Lead for Pacific Hydrogen Strategy.
His research focuses on renewable energy and powerfuel technologies, particularly green hydrogen production, electrochemical CO2 reduction, and techno-economic feasibility analysis. He has published extensively on topics like catalyst design, electrochemical systems, and environmental impact assessments for energy transitions.
Recent publications highlight his work on CO2 electroreduction mechanisms, nitrate-to-ammonium conversion, and material engineering for enhanced hydrogen production and pollutant mitigation. His projects span green iron, electrolyzer design, and hydrogen supply chain modeling.
Scientific Awards:
- ARC DECRA Fellowship
- Faculty of Engineering Three Minute Thesis Winner
He leads or co-leads grants such as the Australian Trailblazer Recycling and Clean Energy (ATRaCE) Lab ($1.2M), ARENA-funded HyGate ($2.4M), and Pacific Hydrogen Strategy ($1.39M). His teaching includes Hydrogen Systems Engineering and Decarbonisation courses.
