Dr. Raheel Hassan is a Lecturer in the School of Computing Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the Cyber Intelligence and Networks research group. He holds a PhD in Network Security from Université de Franche-Comté, France, and has extensive academic and professional experience across Pakistan, France, the USA, and Saudi Arabia. His roles have included Network Administrator, Research Fellow, and Assistant Professor, culminating in his current position at UEA.
Dr. Hassan's expertise spans computer networks, network security, authentication frameworks, IoT, blockchain, and smart cities. He has developed intrusion detection systems for cloud/grid computing and pioneered graphical password authentication techniques. His teaching focuses on core computing disciplines such as Computer Networks, Network Security, and Digital Logic Design.
He currently serves as Placement Director, overseeing student employability initiatives, and Course Director for MSc Cyber Security and related programs. His research emphasizes practical solutions for cybersecurity challenges in emerging technologies, including AI governance, 5G networks, and metaverse-IoT integration. He actively contributes to university governance via roles on the Senate Student Discipline Committee.
