Raghavan Chinnambedu Murugesan is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow at the Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies, Aston University, Birmingham, UK. His research focuses on nanomaterials, optical sensing, photoluminescence, and hybrid perovskites, with a particular emphasis on applications in photonics, energy transfer, and environmental monitoring. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and has extensive postdoctoral experience across South Korea, Taiwan, and the UK.
- Education: PhD in Materials Science (Crystal Growth), MSc in Chemistry, BSc in Chemistry
- Affiliations: Korean Physical Society, Taiwan Physical Society, Indian Crystal Growth Association
His research interests span food photonics, carbon nanocomposites, ferroelectric materials, and thin film technologies. Notable collaborations include work with Tartu University (Estonia) and Diagenode (Belgium). Key projects include developing photonic gas sensors using metal-oxide-functionalized carbon nanostructures and studying optoelectronic applications of hybrid perovskite single crystals.
Over 40 publications highlight his contributions to fields like photodetectors, random lasing, and microplastic detection. His work has been recognized through prestigious fellowships and grants, including the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship (MOFUS 795356). Recent articles emphasize environmental and biomedical applications, such as fluorescence-based microplastic detection and bioactive glass for cancer therapy.
