Raffaele Tarantini

Raffaele Tarantini is a PhD candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin, currently in his 38th cycle (2022-2025). He serves as an External Collaborator at the Department of Structural, Building and Geotechnical Engineering (DISEG) and works as an External Lecturer for Internationalization, Cooperation, Alliances and Mobility (INCAM).

His research spans earthquake engineering, structural analysis, and civil engineering with a particular focus on seismic vulnerability assessment, structural health monitoring, and the application of innovative technologies for building assessment. Tarantini's work integrates satellite data (InSAR) with in situ measurements to evaluate structural integrity and safety.

Tarantini's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on seismic vulnerability assessment of historical and masonry structures, dynamic characterization of buildings, and the application of innovative technologies like 3D printing and drone-based monitoring in structural engineering. His work shows an interdisciplinary approach combining civil engineering principles with advanced sensing technologies.

Tarantini has participated in the organizing committees for significant conferences including ICONREM 2024 and the XIX ANIDIS & XVII ASSISi CONFERENCES (2022). As an educator, he has served as a course collaborator for Construction Workshop F (Building Science module) in the 2024/25 academic year and Building Construction Studio B (Structural Mechanics Module) in the 2023/24 academic year, both within the Architecture program.

His research lines include seismic vulnerability analysis of existing structures, fusion of satellite data and in situ measurements, structural monitoring of buildings and heritage sites, and damage assessment using innovative sensors and drones.
