Rafał Ślefarski

Rafał Ślefarski is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Thermal Energy, Poznań University of Technology. His primary affiliation is within the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Energy (WIŚiE). He holds advanced degrees including a BEng, PhD, and DSc. His research focuses on combustion engineering, energy systems, and low-emission technologies. Key areas include combustion of non-standard gaseous fuels, Power-to-X technologies, thermo-chemical processes of biomass, and emission reduction strategies for industrial applications.

He has conducted extensive research on ammonia and hydrogen blending in gas turbines, flameless combustion, and emission control. His work spans experimental studies and numerical modeling, often involving collaborations with industry partners like PGNiG and Alstom. He has supervised 7 doctoral dissertations, mentoring students in advanced combustion processes and energy efficiency.

Ślefarski has held research fellowships at institutions such as Paul Scherrer Institut (Switzerland), Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (Sweden), and Politecnico di Milano (Italy). He is a member of the Polish Institute of Combustion, European Turbine Network, and serves on the editorial board of Carbon Capture Science & Technology.

His contributions include over 26 articles, 37 book chapters, and 31 research reports. Notable projects include developing low-emission combustion technologies for diverse fuel types, optimizing gas turbine performance, and analyzing thermal energy storage concepts. He has also contributed to innovations in trailer aerodynamics and fuel injection systems for industrial applications.
