Rafaella Elia is a Researcher at the University of Cyprus, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, affiliated with the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence. Since April 2025, she has been contributing to the GuardAI project, focusing on robust and secure AI systems for safety-critical applications. Her academic journey at the University of Cyprus included a Ph.D. in biomedical signal processing, machine learning, and wearable sensors (2024) and a B.Sc. (2017).

Recent publications highlight her focus on UAV-ground robotics cybersecurity, real-time embedded systems, and dataset optimization. She explores intersections of human-machine interaction, wearable sensor fusion, and robust AI implementation for safety-critical infrastructure.
Elia actively contributes to academic leadership as Student Activities Chair of the IEEE Cyprus Section, promoting student engagement and technical initiatives.
