Rafaela Dancygier is the IBM Professor in International Studies and Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University, directing the Mamdouha S. Bobst Center for Peace and Justice. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University (2007). Her research focuses on comparative politics, particularly ethnic diversity in democracies, immigrant political incorporation, electoral representation, and the intersection of immigration with political conflict and gender equality.
Key works include Immigration and Conflict in Europe (2010), which won APSA's Best Book Award, and Dilemmas of Inclusion: Muslims in European Politics (2017), honored with the Stein Rokkan Prize. Her work appears in top journals like the American Political Science Review and World Politics.
Recent studies analyze radical right populism, housing financialization's political impacts, and hate crime dynamics linked to gender imbalances. She has been elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (2023) and awarded the Luebbert Best Book Award (2019).
Her research bridges theory and policy, addressing contemporary challenges in immigrant integration, electoral systems, and multicultural democracy. She advises on European and global political dynamics through Princeton's Bobst Center and collaborates on interdisciplinary projects.
