Rafael Pous Andrés is a part-time Full Professor at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Previously, he served as Associate Professor at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) from 1993 to 2008.

His research focuses on pervasive and ubiquitous systems, particularly the integration of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Cognitive Systems to develop smart objects and spaces. Past contributions include groundbreaking work in numerical methods in electromagnetism, superconductivity for telecommunications, and fractal antennas (co-authoring the first patent in this field).
He has received prestigious fellowships, including the Fulbright and Schlumberger awards, and co-founded three technology startups: The Information Highway Group, AIDA Centre, and Keonn Technologies.
