معرفی
Dr Rafael Paulino is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW Sydney and the Program Manager of the Nuisance and Harmful Algae Science-Practice Partnership (NHASP).
- PhD in Chemical Engineering from UNSW
- MSc in Civil Engineering from University of British Columbia (Canada)
- BSc in Civil Engineering from Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil)
His research focuses on applied solutions to current and emerging challenges in the water industry, including:
- Microbial interactions in environmental water: Understanding microbiomes' roles and interactions, their impact on water quality and treatability, molecular techniques, and antimicrobial resistance.
- Data-driven modelling and remote sensing: Using machine learning for optimizing drinking water treatment and satellite monitoring of urban/rural waterbodies, grounded in mechanistic understanding.
- Environmental water management strategies: Developing sustainable solutions through water-sensitive urban design and environmentally friendly technologies.
He teaches the course CVEN9886 and collaborates with NHASP to integrate academic research with industry practices.
