Radmila Choate, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health at the University of Kentucky, affiliated with the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging. Her research focuses on epidemiological and clinical studies of chronic respiratory diseases, particularly COPD, bronchiectasis, and alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency-associated lung disorders. She leads projects analyzing large-scale registries such as the US Bronchiectasis and NTM Research Registry to evaluate disease progression, treatment efficacy, and health disparities.
Her work explores the impact of comorbidities like cardiovascular disease and obesity on respiratory outcomes, as well as the socioeconomic determinants of healthcare access for marginalized populations. Key topics include bronchiectasis exacerbations, NTM infections, and financial toxicity in chronic disease management. Dr. Choate’s studies often incorporate longitudinal data and patient-reported outcomes to inform clinical guidelines and public health strategies.
She has collaborated on projects addressing gender-specific health experiences, racial disparities in pancreatic disorders, and the role of airway clearance therapies in bronchiectasis. Her research emphasizes translating epidemiological insights into actionable interventions to improve patient care and reduce health inequities.
