Radhika Govinda

Dr. Radhika Govinda is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Director of GENDER.ED at the University of Edinburgh. She holds a BA from Lady Sri Ram College (Delhi), MA from Sciences Po Paris, and PhD from the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on intersectionality, gender politics in development, and decolonizing knowledge production with an emphasis on South Asia.

Her work bridges gender studies, international development, and postcolonial theory. She won the 2022-23 Staff Recognition Award for Advancing Inclusion and was nominated for teaching excellence emphasizing decolonial curriculum.

Research interests include:

• Women's agency and activism in marginalized communities
• Urban social change and climate justice education
• Intersectionality in pedagogy and knowledge systems

Her teaching focuses on intersectional approaches to gender in the Global South, with courses like 'Gender and Development' and 'South Asia: Culture, Politics, Economy'. She has supervised over 10 PhD students on topics ranging from Dalit women's activism to climate justice frameworks.

Publications include Feminist Politics, Intersectionality and Knowledge Cultivation (2025) and co-edited volumes on gender studies in South Asia. She contributes to policy initiatives through roles at Shakti Women's Aid and interdisciplinary collaborations across 8 universities.
