Rachelle E. Kammer serves as a Clinical Professor at Fordham University's Graduate School of Social Service, actively contributing to clinical social work education and research since at least 2006. Her work bridges academic scholarship with community-based interventions, particularly in specialized treatment populations.
Her educational foundation includes a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and dual advanced degrees (MSW and PhD) from Columbia University. These credentials underpin her expertise in evidence-based clinical practice.
Professor Kammer's research centers on critical gaps in substance abuse treatment:
- Specialized interventions for adolescent girls and women
- Geriatric substance abuse treatment protocols
- Early childhood social-emotional development frameworks
She currently leads the Westchester New York Early Step Forward Project, conducting mixed-methods evaluations of social-emotional curricula across ten childcare centers serving 800+ children in Westchester County. This Fordham-coordinated initiative demonstrates her commitment to translating research into community practice.
Within Fordham, she holds dual leadership roles in the Institute for Women and Girls—serving on its Steering Committee since 2006 and mentoring students as Faculty Leader of its Student Group since 2008. Her professional engagement extends to continuous NASW membership since 1993.
Her teaching portfolio directly reflects her research specialties through courses including Generalist Practice with Individuals/Families/Groups, Substance Abuse Treatment, and BASW Integrative Seminars.
