Dr. Rachel Vipond is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for Criminal Justice at the University of York's School for Business and Society. She holds a PhD from Lancaster University and serves as the Careers and Employability Coordinator. Her research focuses on youth justice systems, professional decision-making in criminal justice, and gender-specific approaches to youth crime.
Research interests include:
- Ethnographic studies of youth offending teams
- Risk assessment frameworks in criminal justice
- Gender disparities in youth crime
- Qualitative methodologies in criminology
Leadership roles include serving as Executive Secretary of the British Society of Criminology and participating in the Howard League for Penal Reform Early Career Academics Network.
