Her research focuses on behavioral health interventions, particularly addressing barriers to mental health and substance use treatment through improved client engagement strategies, telehealth optimization, and systemic family therapy approaches. She explores how social determinants of health impact healthcare access and emphasizes measurement rigor in psychotherapy outcomes.
Her lab, the Clinical Outcome and Process Research Lab (COPR), investigates therapy processes such as alliance formation, retention, and engagement dynamics using national couple/family therapy networks. Key themes in her work include health equity, pandemic-related mental health challenges, and caregiver burden in substance use disorder contexts.
Recent articles highlight her work on telehealth efficacy, pandemic stress spillover effects, and measurement tools for long-COVID impacts. Though her MFT programs are currently closed, she remains active in graduate student advising and policy-related research.
