Rachel Stanley is the Frost Associate Professor in Environmental Science and Associate Professor of Chemistry at Wellesley College. Her research focuses on environmental inorganic chemistry, utilizing gas tracers like noble gases and triple oxygen isotopes to study physical, chemical, and biological processes in the ocean, particularly in the context of the global carbon cycle and climate change.
- Research interests: environmental inorganic chemistry, gas tracers, instrument development, mass spectrometry, coastal and upper ocean processes
- Teaching: Introductory chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemical equilibrium and analysis
- Institutional affiliation: Wellesley College (Chemistry and Environmental Studies departments)
She collaborates with the SUSTAIN Wind-Wave Tank facility at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences for ocean process modeling. Her laboratory work involves instrument development and field measurements, with a focus on advancing mass spectrometry techniques for environmental analysis.
