Rachel Phillips

Rachel Phillips is a Research Fellow in the Division of Health and Social Care Research at King's College London's Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. She joined the institution in August 2015 as a clinical trial statistician, working on both early and later phase trials. She also serves as a general advisor for the NIHR Research Design Service, providing statistical guidance to investigators developing grant applications.

Her research expertise spans medical statistics with a focus on clinical trials methodology, particularly in the areas of mental health, infectious diseases, and cardiovascular conditions. Her work contributes to multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and wellbeing. Her statistical research specifically focuses on the presentation of harm information in drug trials and methods to identify adverse drug reactions.

Analysis of her recent publications reveals significant work in borderline personality disorder interventions, adolescent sexual health and substance use, sexually transmitted infection screening programs, and gene therapy for rare skin conditions. Her research demonstrates strong interdisciplinary collaboration across medical specialties and public health domains.

• NIHR Research Methods Fellowship

Dr. Phillips has been actively involved in multiple research projects including Healthy Mums (a feasibility study for post-natal mothers with hypertension), CVD-WEIGHT study (weight management for cardiovascular disease patients), and several clinical trials related to lung cancer surgery and chlamydia screening. She has served as both Co-Investigator and Primary Investigator on these projects, demonstrating leadership in research design and statistical methodology.

Her work involves collaboration with multiple institutions and researchers across the UK and internationally, with particular focus on clinical trials methodology, harm reporting in pharmacology studies, and public health interventions targeting vulnerable populations including adolescents and post-natal women.
